Director of Pricing

 

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

Direct all Pricing activities for the company including providing management of the Pricing Managers and Analysts. Ensures strategic execution of pricing analysis for all categories through the utilization of price modeling tools; competitive price checks, external market share data, and market specific strategic pricing goals.  Develops formal reports and makes presentations/ recommendations on conclusions that were derived from analysis findings.  Work with category management and merchandising management to develop and implement pricing strategies and programs that meet the profit and relationship pricing needs of the company.  Oversee the operations of the pricing department to ensure the integrity of information contained in various databases. 

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:  

·        Provides day to day management of the pricing function including providing guidance and direction to pricing managers 

·        Participates in review of financial performance of all categories, including pricing scenarios, market share, sales and profit generations.  Work with the appropriate category manager to understand and overcome financial variances.  Assist the senior category mangers in achieving targeted growth in market share for their assigned categories by ensuring reasonable pricing metrics are developed and implemented 

·        Conduct periodic reviews of proposes retail changes from category mangers driven by cost changes.  Ensure profit margins are maintained

·        Direct the creation of pricing relationships among items based on relationship pricing objectives.  Ensure pricing schemes enable sales and profit targets to be achieved.

·        Review monthly reports comparing prices to competitive prices on market basket items

·        Evaluate and analyze relationship pricing actuals.  Recommend changes to relationship pricing philosophy to maximize profit contributions while maintaining customer satisfaction

·        Utilizing pricing database, provide direction to Pricing Managers on mainitaing desired zone price index, basket tiers and ensure balance is achieved with profit margin rate expectations

·        Maintains strong working relationships with regional business units, stores and others to ensure price issues at the operating level are resolved in a timely manner

·        Initiate programs and policies that will ensure the integrity of the data in the various pricing databases is as high as possible

·        Actively work on multi-functional task forces to troubleshooting pricing, merchandising and category management issues

 

REQUIREMENTS:

·        Advanced PC skills, Microsoft Suite to include Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio

·        10-15 years work experience in supermarket retail business.

·        Expert knowledge and proficiency in Retek and information systems.

·        Knowledge of Strategic Merchandising Hierarchy and Multi-retail format philosophy & pricing strategies

·        Ability to manage others

·        Undergraduate degree preferred in Business Management

·        Familiarity with Nexis database a plus
